Jan 15 - Adelaide/Glenelg

Today is the only day we have to spend in Adelaide. Gonna cram a few things in before heading to Glenelg to meet up with Rachel and her family. First stop is Adelaide Central Market. It's like a permanent indoor farmers' market. Lots of meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and cheeses! Saw some game meat sausages but we didn't have a cooler nor were we heading to anywhere with a BBQ pit so we had to pass. Grabbed a light bite on-the-go and we headed to our next stop - National Wine Centre. On the way, I called and made reservations for a complimentary tour at a Haigh's Chocolates in the afternoon. Parking in Adelaide is a little tricksy. It's like reading parking signs in NYC, you need a PhD to understand if you can park there or not!
Interesting building designs
The National Wine Centre is pretty cool (literally as well!). There's an interactive exhibit that you can go through at your own pace exploring the different types of wines in Australia, the various terrains, etc. They also have a collection of vintage wine labels. Afterwards, we headed to the tasting section. Alright, so you found me out, this is why we came here. Tasting is self-serve. You give them a valid credit card to start a tab and they give you this card which you can insert into their machines to select the wine you want to taste and what size, and the card records your selection. We sat outside at an umbrella-ed table and ordered some food. We ended spending so much time there just chilling that I had to call and cancel our tour at Haigh's. Once we're done, we walked through the botanic gardens which is connected to it.
Too gorgeous not to sit outside
Got us some food to go with our wine
Cheers!

Hit traffic going to Glenelg but still made it on time. Finally got to meet Dave, Kata (Katherine) and Asher. Pleased to meet you guys. Walked around a little and it was time to head back.

I love Glenelg!!
