Jan 9 - Melbourne/Cairns

Aunty Jeannie and ah yee dropped me off to catch the shuttle bus to the airport. I'm on my way to Cairns today. There's an hour difference between Cairns and Melbourne so I gained an hour going there. It's friggin' hot in Cairns and I was thankful for the a/c at the motel when I finally got there. Cooled off a bit then followed the map to go meet with Carmen. She's the lovely lady who's been helping me with my time in Cairns. Got final details of my boat trip, she suggested I go check out the rainforest area - Kuranda on the day I leave (my flight isn't till later in the afternoon as it's not recommended to fly within 24hrs after the last dive) so I can see a bit more of Cairns. Gave me all I need to get there and back and to the airport which I can't thank her enough. THANK YOU CARMEN! Got me a voucher to rent an underwater camera too. She's just awesome!!!

Walking around the pier after dinner
So I walked around town. Got dinner with a view then strolled around some more. Made it to the camera shop and they said they needed to see my passport. UGH ... walked back to the motel (30 mins away by foot) and got my passport and walked back. One thing to note, at dusk, the bats come out and the sky is quite a sight (and noisy too). Grabbed a gelato to cool off (it might be night but it's still hot) and headed back for an early night. Have to be at the pier by 0730 tomorrow.
